Jalex Sires

A close look at the the Sires that are currently working at the Jalex Herd.

We do some aiing here at Jalex but we also have a good selection of stock bulls, with the job we are at we are selecting bulls for ease of calving, bulls with easy calving blood lines, easy calving figures and bulls that look like they will breed a quality calf as well as be easy calved and we then select the heifers to go the bulls. We avoid using bulls that carry Myostatin genes on out muscled heifers.

We regulary have bulls available for sale, both young home bred bulls as well as some of the bulls we use on the herd.

Clonguish Ronald

DOB: 04/10/2020 Breed: Limousin

Purchased in Elphin standing Res Senior Champion we expect Ronalds first calves in late spring 2023. Although he is well muscled, we expect Ronald to be easily calved as he is carrying 2 x F94L genes and his breeing is easy calving, short gestation bulls all the way back.

The Grove Farm P381

Purchased in Roscrea in Spring 2020 P381 has been used extensively since his purchase.

He is a light boned bull with a tiny head and clean lines, carrying 2 xF94L genes we are trusting that he will very easy to calf to. Especially giving his breeding he is sired by the proven easy calving Dovea AI bull Ewdenvale Ivor (LM2014) and out of a Commander x Ulm Cow.

He has a calving Value of 3% on Beef cows and 5.2% on beef heifers so the figures suggest he will be easy calving as well.

P381 has been used on the muscular BB X Lim type heifers

Purchased March 2022 in Elphin, we are excited to have Romeo added to our stock bulls, thick and well muscled, 2 x F94L genes, 5 stars across the board, and some of the easiest calving lines available. He is just the job for more extreme muscled heifers.

Brookland Poet is a very exciting youg bull for us, puchased privately from the Hickey Farmily in 2020.

Sired by the easy calving Plumtree Fantastic, Poet has a calving value of 2.2% on Beef cows, these figures along with the character and his beauty of a head was the reason why we selected him.#

Poet has been used extensively since 2020 and has been a delight, proving easily calved with beautiful calves born full of character and real meaty. Some making show calf quality,

Ampertaine Prescott

Prescott is the ideal bull for us hre at Jalex carrying 2 x F94L genes, sired by the proven easy calver Plumtree Fantastic and out of an Ampertaine Abracadabra cow , he has easy calving on both sides.

This along with his lovely head and light bone with the muscle he carries leaves him ideal for heifers the 1st time.

Prescott has been used here for many seasons and will be here til he quits. Rarely does a bull come along that is so easily calved but leaves calves with the shape he does. Several calves being show quality and no negative reports from calving to him.

Natking cole was purchased in Carlisle from the herd of Henry Savage and sons. A Trueman Jagger son from one of the best females in the breed Truman Isabella. Both Nattkingcoles parents have been Champions at the Limousin Congress in Carlisle.

A massive bull with great presence, power and plates. We have a few very exciting calves on the ground that we look forward to show in 2022.

A limited amount of semen is available from Natkingcole.

Brooklands Ken

Ken is the oldest bull here at Jalex. He is just about the only bull we have that we would not sell. We have used him for 5 years on both our heifers and our pedigree Limousin herd with great success.

He is a real kind natured bull that fleshes on nowt, great head and character with natural muscling.

He is easy calved and throws great colours.

Ken bulled all our pedigree cows in 2020 as we would like some bull calves from him to keep for ourselves.

The 2020 Housewives choice at the Ulster Beef and Lamb show and sale was by Ken out of a pedigree BB cow and sold for £5000.

Tateetra and Rathmore farms purchased a good deal of heifers from us in 2018 in calf to ken and sold calves to 3500 euros from him.

Sired by Kaprico Eravelle, and a Ronick hawk bred cow.
